 How Was Your V-Day?
This question is not meant to depress or anger anyone.
Just for those who wish to share their experiences.
Me - I watched 'employee of the month' and watched my kids suck helium out of their balloons.
It was much better than last year, or the year before that...
The year before that, I got flowers and a card from some guy who claimed to love me.
Where did he go?

I woke up went on msn, showered, msn some more, slept, talked to some guys who wanted to take me out but they're all creeps so I said no. I then got a call at 2:34pm saying that my god daughter had been born so I headed to the hospital. I can no longer say that I hate Feb/14th but I sure can say Valentines Day sucks it big time.

 v DAY
Well here in Connecticut we had the 1st snow/ice/yucky storm of the winter season, so I spent the day holed up in my house on computer, reading, watching tv, don't think I even talked to anyone. It was a nice restful day and I didn't even think about it being V Day.
Holidays are pretty depressing anyway.

 My VDay :P
Hello to everyone
My Valentine day was nothing special really, for me its just a regular day like the other 364 days of the year,
but since i am single now after some time of relashionship i was a bit sad i think, because i was completly alone, and all my friends, are far away from me (other countries), so i went for a walk alone cause was a sunny day here in Portugal.

Crap. He was at work all day and never mentioned it. I gave him his card when he came in. I'd planned for us to eat without the children by candle light but when he still made no mention other than thank you when i gave him his card i made our dinner with the kids. I finally got a card and a toblerone at about 6.15pm by which time i was totally fed up with the whole idea and didn't want anything to do with it.
I sound a bit like a spoiled brat now.. lol.. but we've been together less than 3 years. The first valentine's day we went away for the weekend to a lovely hotel, last year i got a card and flowers and a lovely day, this year it just seemed like an afterthought. It's not the presents, i don't care about them, it really is the thought that counts and there wasn't much of that at all.

Well, I'll tell you what I did.
I got impulsive, bought a "Little Guy" and am going out hunting-camping tonight...nothing says Valentine's Day like killing your own dinner.
Wondering what a "Little Guy" is? I'll tell you what it is not - what you are thinking. It's a small camper/trailer I think is pretty cool...

 Not Fun...
Well, I'm in a French exchange program, so I just went to France two days before Valentine's Day, and I started school ON the day. Now just before I left, I told a really sweet guy I loved him...(and before anyone gets angry at me for telling him just before leaving for three months, I told him I didn't expect him to wait), and he said he really appreciated that I told him, and he will think about it and let me know when I got back. I even got a hug. I was actually happy, things like that never work out for me. He also told me to email him. So I sent my first email on Valentine's Day, and I told him about France. He sent me one back the same day, Valentine's Day, telling me about school, and about how he hopes I'm having a good time. He also told me that he wishes he could say it in person, but he isn't interested in pursuing a relationship beyond friendship at this point in his life. I definitely appreciate his honesty, and I would love to be his friend, but now I feel like I can't make it through the three months in France. Knowing that I might be able to date this boy when I got back was keeping me happy, because he is the kind of person that wants to give everything a chance, but it seems he has made up his mind. Now I feel depressed and whatnot because I can't see my friends, my family, my love, or anyone. I even miss some people I hate, and it hasn't even been a week yet. I'm going to take him up on his friend offer, which he gave later on in the email, but I still love him very much and I will wait years if I have to, for him to be ready for a different relationship (which I know may never come).

 I still love Valentine's Day
...and I'm not afraid to say it. My V-Day was great!
So many people are against Valentine's day is because companies exploit it. You feel that you have to buy your partner an impressive present or it means you don't care about her - and so you're forced into spending the excessive amounts of money they charge around this time of year for the traditional presents.
If this didn't happen, I can't see why people would be anti Valentine's Day - at the end of the day, it would just be a day to show your affection.
Unfortunately, Valentine's Day is what it is. If you protest because you hate the commercial racket it is, she'll think you just don't want to save the money, unless she's as cynical as you are. At the same time, impressing your girlfriend doesn't have to cost the earth. I've put my ideas on the 14 February.info (sorry, not allowed to link to the site just yet) and I hope they help.
