 lopsided holiday
Guys... has a girl ever got you anything for Valentine's Day? It seems like a lopsided holiday to me.

HAAHhaa, that is so true. I don't think I ever really got presents from girlfriends but always gave them one. Maybe I was dating the wrong girls but still. If we are supposed to give them flowers, gifts, candy what are they supposed to give us?

 I've given...
I've given boyfriends things for V-day, but then again I'm a giving person anyway.
It'd be a funny thing to talk about before dating someone... "oh, hey, I was wondering... do you get anything for boyfriends for V-day?" heh

guys don't really seem to appreciate the usual stuff for Valentines, and would you really want us to reserve the stuff you do like just for then?

Guys don't need presents, they need a little play. Isn't that why they buy flowers and candy or is there another reason?

I wouldn't say no to an Xbox game or something boyish.. boys get the better presents. Flowers die.

Exactly! Guys doing more for girls may be the 'norm' on v-day, but it certainly ain't true in my case. The main reason I'm about to give up entirely on the stupid day is that I've done all the planning and giving for 2/14 for almost the entire time my husband and I have been together (3 years married, 8 years total). The first year we were dating, we were long distance so he sent me flowers. Since then...nada. It's all been me. He always asks, "so what do you want to do?" I don't think 50/50 is too much to ask.

I gave my guys gifts on Valentines Day when actually in a relationship. I always gave them something that they would like, not flowers or stuffed animals or stupid stuff with hearts on it (which btw, I don't like either but always got).
Of course dropping by in nothing but a trench coat always seems to work just as well as a present.
