My mom's a middle school teacher. She said that some people had so many goodies that it may as well have been a pink and red tinted Christmas. However, many of these goodies are girls getting gifts for their friends.
I'm also a high schooler, and people love flaunting whatever they can get. Someone had a balloon today that sang a song when pressed on. No jokes. I wanted to poke it with a needle, but had no needles around. One of the school clubs had this thing where you could purchase a carnation for $1 for someone and attach a little message. You can clearly see who is either a) popular or b) coupled just by viewing how many carnations (or what color carnations) they have.
The only good thing about today is that tomorrow, all the candy goes on sale for ridiculous discounts because stores want to hustle all the Easter candy in as soon as possible.

This "holiday" is so tacky and impersonal. I know a couple that NEVER says I love you to each other, but nooo, on V-Day, they go all out. Ugh. It's a meaningless day to me.

Is it bad that I was actually HAPPY that the biggest storm the Northeast has seen this year hit today of all days, ruining most people's V-day plans? lol
Oh well...I'm not bitter...I swear!! haha.

well...im not really antivalentines
cuz before, i can care less for valentines day - just another day to me, single, nothing special.
but this year it was something i actually looked forward to, cuz i wanted to surprise my gf =)
i didn't bring up the slightest word of valentines day before today,
and i guess i did surprise her with my ecard from hallmark =P
but then, i expected it'd be a nice day chatting online cuz valentines day
...and she emailed me that her friend phoned her up at work and wanted her to go to ikea together and didn't know when she'll be back
yah...so i was ok with it....but didn't expect her to not come online at all for the whole afternoon to evening to now, night.
what a wonderful valentines evening huh? the first time to look forward to something out of valentines day....and this is what comes as a surprise for me on this apparently special day...

TODAY WE HAVE GATHERED TO CELEBRATE THE DEATH OF ST. VALENTINE...DUE TO COMMERCIALIZATION OF SOCIETY BY HALMARK!
So I decided to spend today in a nice black suit...which I am starting to figure out that getting close to 30 and working at a "real" job means that people think you are just trying to be some funny guy instead of making a statement against today. Needless to say that the pink and red are all over my job. Oh how I wish I had ran into our HR lady so that they would all be forced to take it down.
Oh and why is there this need by people to send me e-mails, text, etc wishing me a happy v-day. These people have known me for years, and have heard me scream at the top of my lungs about my hatred for today. Do they want to piss me off or something? Do they think that because I may have grown into adult relationships with women that I might have a change of heart and become yet another sheep?
My "roommate" is the worst. All I have heard from her all day is how she is in her late 20's and still single. Tell me something women here on this board...didn't you all get equal rights years ago? Why does there need to be this need to hold yourselves to some mold that is thousands of years outdated saying you need to be tied down and knocked up to make a purpose out of your lives? Don't get me wrong...I enjoy your boobs like every other male in this world and at some day would like to use one of you for procreation...but come on now here!
Love ya roomie by the way if you are reading this...you're the best!
I don't think that people understand just how much I hate these months of the year and the sales blitz that goes with it. Maybe it is a case of the S.A.D.S. or whatever psychocrap the media is feeding us...maybe I should listen to my mother...maybe I am bitter over some past mistake or present stress....NAH! I think it is just a case of being a person willing to express how I truely feel about things in life and this is one of those things.
I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY....NOW ALL OF YOU LOVE SAPS CAN GET OVER IT!
And now for a moment of silence for our fallen friend, St. Valentine.

Good and bad things about V Day
I agree that for many people, Valentine’s Day is little more than a commercial excuse to charge large amounts of money for cards, chocolates and any other conceivable gift. However, it doesn’t just have to be about this. Why can't it also be a beautiful romantic day to show your partner how much you love them? If you take away the commercial side of things, don't you agree that Valentine's day is actually not a bad thing at all? I put my ideas on my blog, 14february.info. Hope you enjoy it.

interesting blog, and you are completely right, it doesn't always have to be about dropping large amounts of cash on your special someone, i usually try to get something nice and relatively cheap and then try to make or do something meaningful or personal... which you think would mean more to them, but the only time ive ever seemed to blow a girl away is by dropping lots of money on something expensive, either i have the system all wrong or i just date really dumb people haha, what do you think?
