Post Debasement of Classical Roman religion
Personally, i don't care about the bloody meaning of this day, but I just feel that it is a christian debasement of the ancient Roman Religion. It is an insult to Parentalia and Lupercalia. Both of them semi-derived from fertility rites to show your gratefulness for the previous year's harvest and hopes of having a good harvest and more children in the coming year (February was the last month of the year in the Julian calendar). Through the centuries, it became used as a festival for celebrating some saint named Valentine. It became assimilated into another religion and culture and became very different from its original meaning, except for the sexual aspects.

Post agree...
I agree and you can make very similar arguments to easter, christmas etc...  Oddly enough though, Italy doesn't celebrate valentines day despite its history! I'm currently living in Milan, and i cant tell you how much of a joy it is not to see so much advertisements promoting the day.

Ah, an Anti-Christian bigot, spreading his hate.

I hope you're enjoying your freedom of speech. You wouldn't have it if a bunch of "religious nuts" decided to roll over to the King of England.

Take Sundays off? Christmas? Easter? Thanksgiving? Thank a Christian.
